The coast and the mountains are the dominant landscape of the Basque country.
Three provinces share basque coast: the french side Labourd, Guipuzcoa and Vizcaya Spanish side.
The region is marked very much by its maritime influence,marked by the two cities of Bibao and Bayonne.
The coast basque begins south of the Adour with fine sandy beaches, which correspond The extension of the Finnish coast. At Anglet, in the House of Love, long beaches end and leave room for cliffs 30 to 50 m high and small beaches dug into creeks.
Bidart is located about midway between Bayonne and Hendaye. Hit's name is Bidarte basque. Bidarte just bide (path) and arte (middle) and means "the middle path, at the crossroads".

Meaning of arms
The harpoon refers to whaling, which was practised in Bidart. The tower is represented as Koskenia (at the end of the beach Parlementia). It symbolizes the boundary between Bidart and Guéthary. The boat was fishing Bidart. The motto "Bidartean zuzena onena" means "between the tracks, most law is the best".
